Torstein Hagen

A Norway native, Torstein “Tor” Hagen is Viking’s founder and Executive Chairman. He has served as Chairman of the Board since the company’s establishment in 1997, when Viking was founded with the purchase of four ships and a vision that travel could be more destination focused and culturally immersive. As Executive Chairman, Tor focuses on Viking’s long-term strategy and provides counsel to Viking’s Chief Executive Officer.

Tor has extensive experience in the shipping and cruise industries, including serving as Chief Executive Officer of Bergen Line and Royal Viking Line. He was formerly a Partner at McKinsey & Company and has served on the boards of several travel and maritime companies. He holds a degree in physics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, where he completed his master’s thesis related to artificial intelligence and machine learning. As the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, he studied computers at Wesleyan University in the United States, and he also holds an MBA from Harvard University.
