Susan Herrmann Loomis

Award-winning author and internationally acclaimed food expert Susan Herrmann Loomis takes a unique approach to her craft, combining journalism training with a love for food and the people who produce it.  

After attending cooking school in Paris, she spent a year co-researching The Food Lover’s Guide to Paris, by Patricia Wells. The duo tasted their way through the famous city, getting up at all hours to visit bakers and cheese makers, restaurateurs and markets. Susan went on to travel extensively and became captivated by agricultural traditions throughout the world and the people who grow and then fashion our food into wonderful tastes. 

“I believe that learning about cooking and food involves much more than recipes and techniques and to that end, share with you, my reader and my cooking student, the people, the traditions, the culture around the farm, the table, the winery, the bakery, the fromagerie and more,” she explains.

Susan has written 14 books, the most recent of which is Plat du Jour. She divides her time between Paris and her lovingly restored 15th-century convent home in Normandy.
