Roy Tan is a Canadian musician known for his improvisational pianistic flair as well as his compositions and orchestral arrangements often described as imaginative, cinematic, lush and theatrical. Roy began touring with the Canadian Tenors before becoming the music director and producer for the group Destino. In 2012, Roy started the duo ‘Roy & Rosemary’with violinist Rosemary Siemens. Together they have captured the hearts of audiences around the world with their rich, soulful sound and on-the-spot improvisations in various styles of music. Their recent soaring and dramatic rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” has garnered nearly 20 million views on YouTube.
Growing up in a family of music lovers, Roy started piano lessons before the age of 4. Gifted with a natural ear and perfect pitch, he learned to improvise soon after. At age 11, he began performing regularly in his home church, and has since gone on to perform on many stages around the world, touring from Coast to Coast in Canada and the United States; including appearances in Rome and the Vatican city, Las Vegas and New York’s famed Carnegie Hall to name a few.
