Father Pius Nemes
Father Pius Nemes is a Benedictine monk at the Göttweig Abbey—founded in 1083 on a hilltop overlooking the Wachau Valley in Austria. He entered this hallowed monastery as a novice in 1996. To further his knowledge, he studied philosophy at the University of Salzburg, Austria, and theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm in Rome, Italy. After many years of study, Father Pius then attended to several parishes around Austria in Hainfeld, Rohrbach and Kleinzell. For him, it was important to meet the members of his parish, understand their concerns and needs, and share their joys and sorrows with them. In 2005, he was ordained into the priesthood. Currently, his responsibilities at the Göttweig Abbey include pastoral care of a nearby parish, as well as convent commissioner for tourism and culture.
