Richard Bruce Parkinson is a professor of Egyptology at the University of Oxford and a fellow of The Queen’s College, Oxford. Previously he was a curator at the British Museum (1990–2012), working on various projects including the display of the Rosetta Stone and the Nebamun wall paintings. He specializes in the translation and interpretation of poetry from the classic period of Egyptian culture (1950–1650 BCE). Drawing on his museum experience as well as his work on ancient poetry and its modern receptions, Parkinson has also published widely on LGBTQ and world history. He is currently working on an exhibition of the Tutankhamen archive for the Bodleian Library planned for 2022.
