Rear Admiral John Lippiett, CB, CBE, served in the Royal Navy for 36 years and retired as Rear Admiral. He spent his second career as CEO of the Mary Rose Trust, where he oversaw the conservation of the flagship and the building of its internationally acclaimed museum. He holds honorary doctorates from the University of Portsmouth and Southampton Solent University, and now lectures extensively on maritime history, exploration and mapping.
