Dr. William Curry, PhD, is an elected Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and currently serves as the President and CEO of BIOS. Prior to joining BIOS in 2012, he spent more than three decades at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) working in various roles as a senior scientist in the Department of Geology and Geophysics—acting as department chair from 1995 to 1999—and director of the Ocean and Climate Change Institute. He attained a BS in geology from the University of Delaware, followed by a PhD from Brown University. Dr. Curry has twice served as a program director at the National Science Foundation in the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences. He has also served on numerous boards, including the Ocean Studies Board of the National Research Council, the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) advisory and review panels.
