Turi King
Professor Turi King, a renowned geneticist and archaeologist, is best known for leading the genetic analysis in the King Richard III case. She regularly speaks at universities and public events and lends her generic expertise to authors, radio documentaries and television shows. With Stacey Dooley, she presents the popular BBC Two genealogy series, DNA Family Secrets, which uses the latest DNA technology to solve family mysteries around ancestry, genetic disease and missing relatives. She is also a co-presenter on the documentary series, Unearthed: Ancient Murder Mysteries, which examines the application of modern forensics to ancient cold cases.
In 2016, Turi was appointed an honorary fellow of the British Science Association in recognition of her contribution to public engagement in science. In 2018, at the Royal Institution, London, she gave the J.B. S. Haldance prize lecture of The Genetics Society. Turi holds a master’s in molecular genetics from the University of Leicester.
