Trine Lyrek

Husky Dog Trainer | Trasti & Trine
Norway

Trine Lyrek has been dogsledding and working with huskies for more than 20 years—an adventure that began in Alta, Norway, when she was attending Øytun Folk High School. It was then that she took her very first ride behind the sled, and she quickly realized that mushing was what she wanted to do professionally. This path eventually led her to Alaska, where she lived for seven years and competed in the Iditarod, the world’s longest sled dog race.

When Trine returned to Alta in 2007 as a mother of two, she established Northern Lights Husky (now Trasti & Trine), a one-of-a-kind experience company combining the bed-and-breakfast concept with dogsledding. In the years since, she has worked to perfect the unique interaction between dogs, humans and nature. And today, her products speak for themselves; Trine has enjoyed the pleasure of guiding more than 7,000 guests on their first dogsledding trip.
