Tone Hansen is a renowned Norwegian artist, curator and museum director. Since 2022, she has led the Munch Museum in Oslo, where she has significantly promoted artistic freedom and expanded the museum's international reach. Notably, Hansen launched the MUNCH Award, which honors artists addressing critical social and political issues through their work. This initiative reflects her commitment to supporting artistic expression and freedom. This work is aligned with her vision for the Munch Museum, which includes making Edvard Munch's art accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences. 

Hansen has also made significant contributions to arts literature, authoring Hvordan tenke museum I dag? and editing anthologies like What Does Public Mean? and The New Administration of Aesthetics 

Her academic journey includes studies at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts and Konsthögskolan i Malmö. Her professional career began at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, where she served as curator from 2008 and later as director from 2011 to 2022. During this period, she curated numerous exhibitions and fostered a vibrant cultural environment.
