Teresa Anderson, MBE
Professor Teresa Anderson is Director of the University of Manchester’s Discovery Centre at Jodrell Bank, and is currently working on developing new galleries at the centre. Jodrell Bank aims to engage the public, and especially school children in science. She also led, alongside Professor Tim O’Brien, the process for Jodrell Bank to become a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Professor Anderson has a first degree in Physics and a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and has spent many years working in Science Policy and Engagement with organisations such as NESTA and Practical Action. In 2015, she was made an honorary Professor in the University of Manchester’s School of Physics & Astronomy. In 2013 she was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Astrophysics. In 2014 she was awarded, along with Tim O’Brien, the Institute of Physics Kelvin Medal for Public Engagement with Physics.
