Richard Bates is a geoscientist at the University of St. Andrews. In the US, he contracted with mining, oil, ground water and environmental organizations; however, since returning to the UK, his focus has been on applying geophysical techniques to a range of climate, archaeological and environmental issues. His work is featured regularly on BBC, National Geographic, Discovery and the Travel Channel.
