Viking Onboard Sales Manager Michael Hannus has always been fascinated by exploration and travel as a means of broadening one’s horizons. So, when he joined Viking in 2009 as a travel consultant, he instantly felt at home assisting guests in the planning of their Viking journeys. This eventually led to an opportunity in 2015 to work as a cruise consultant on board the company’s first ocean ship, Viking Star. Without hesitation, he accepted the position and joined Viking Star on the journey from Venice to Istanbul immediately following her delivery, as well as her maiden voyage from Istanbul to Bergen for her Naming Ceremony. He also attended the Naming Ceremonies of Viking Star’s sister ships Viking Sea, Viking Sky and Viking Sun, and sailed the company’s inaugural 141-day world cruise in 2017. He has since returned to the Viking sales and marketing office in Los Angeles, where he has been managing the onboard sales team for the past two years.
