Martin McAuley is a Belfast-based tour guide and whiskey specialist, best known as the founder of UlsterWhiskey.com, a platform dedicated to celebrating the rich and often overlooked history of whiskey in Ulster.  

Following a career change in late 2015, Martin pursued his passion for storytelling and local heritage by training as a tour guide. This transition coincided with the resurgence of the Irish whiskey industry, leading him to focus on whiskey tourism as a natural and exciting path. What began as an interest quickly developed into a deep passion, driven by extensive research coupled with hands-on experience.  

Martin has built strong connections with key figures in the Ulster whiskey scene, gaining valuable insight into both the historical and modern aspects of whiskey production. While not tied to a single distillery, his independent approach allows him to present a broad, engaging and authentic perspective.  

Through Ulster Whiskey, Martin offers bespoke experiences ranging from guided walks through Belfast’s whiskey heritage to curated tastings and excursions to iconic whiskey regions, such as Islay and Campbeltown. His tours are known for blending storytelling, history and humor, making the complex and expansive world of whiskey accessible and enjoyable for all audiences.
