Jan Olesen
Jan Olesen, a Candidate of Arts and Letters in general literature from the University of Oslo, is best known for his significant contributions to the fields of literature and education. After moving to Norway and working in tourism, Jan specialized in European Romanticism and began teaching evening courses in "Literature Knowledge" at Friundervisningen in Oslo in 1999. These courses quickly expanded to senior centers across the city, and today, Jan runs ten such courses each spring and autumn. His dedication to literature extends beyond the classroom, as he has delivered numerous lectures at libraries and associations, covering a wide range of Norwegian and international literature.
In addition to his teaching, Jan has creatively combined his passion for guiding and literature by organizing literary trips under the name "LittRarTur" for over a decade. These trips, which run from September to April, offer participants an immersive experience in literature and travel. Jan's collaboration with Nestor, a leading online education platform, began in 2014 when he served as a professional tour guide on trips to Denmark. This partnership has flourished, leading to several trips and lectures, and most recently, a course in literary history.
Jan's approach to literature emphasizes the importance of active engagement and personal investment in reading, encouraging readers to challenge their preconceptions and embrace the transformative power of literature. His commitment to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of literature continues to inspire.
