Ingar Eide
Ingar and Margunn live in Ålesund, on the west coast of Norway, where they work together in a family-run company, making wool slippers. From 2002 to 2004, Margunn and Ingar lived in Mongolia with their three children. Here they were part of a development project, where people could make an income by learning how to make felt products by using the local merino wool. The love for the country, the warm-hearted people and a strong commitment, made them want to continue the project on a private basis by starting TOVA in 2007. Together with skilled Mongolian felters and with the entrepreneurial spirit that is characteristic for people from the Ålesund region, they make slippers inspired by the Norwegian wool traditions. Tova’s vision is to build a society in Mongolia through providing good jobs and responsible production. Aid has turned into business development, and today Tova provides work for more than 60 families. The decision to go to Mongolia 20 years ago was a life changing experience. The Tova slippers are sold on board the Viking ships.
