George Faulkner
George Faulkner is a Wiltshire-based plastering specialist with over 15 years of professional experience, operating under GF Plastering in Upavon. Known for his clean, tidy and reliable approach, George delivers high-standard workmanship across both traditional and modern plastering disciplines.
He specializes in traditional lime plastering, lath and plaster repair, and conservation-led restoration work—skills particularly valued in period and heritage properties—alongside modern gypsum and cement plastering for contemporary renovations.
George is currently contributing to a restoration project at the Highclere Castle estate, working on the Cemetery Chapel. The chapel was designed and built in 1855 by Thomas Allom at the request of the 3rd Dowager Countess of Carnarvon to house memorials to relatives and trusted servants, including a memorial tablet to Mary Moreton, nursemaid to the 3rd Countess’s children.
Set within the wider estate grounds, the chapel is a serene space for reflection and forms part of Highclere’s layered history. While the main castle was remodeled in the 19th century, the site itself dates back much further, with remnants of a 1689 church located nearby. The chapel interior features significant stained glass, including a recently repaired window restored by Barry Davis of Leadcraft Stained Glass Studio.
George’s involvement in this sensitive heritage setting reflects his expertise in traditional lime-based materials and conservation methods, ensuring the historic integrity of the structure is preserved for future generations.
