Frances Vandy is a long-established French guide based in the picturesque Rhône River town of Viviers. Having lived along the Rhône since 1990, Frances has spent decades sharing her passion for the region’s history, culture and daily life with visitors from around the world. She has guided countless tours for Viking and other leading travel companies, introducing guests to the historic treasures of Tain, Tournon, Avignon, Grignan, Arles and the celebrated vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 

Frances is best known for welcoming guests into her lovingly restored home in Viviers—a house rich in stories, once connected to the French Resistance during World War II and containing hidden tunnels discovered during renovation. Her hospitality and warmth have made her a cherished part of the Viking guest experience. Frances takes great pride in offering a glimpse behind the shutters of local life in Provence, often serving refreshments in her garden, accompanied by her tortoise. Guests frequently describe their visit with her as one of the most memorable moments of their journey.
