Erika Gohde Sandbakken has worked as a painting conservator at the Munch Museum for 14 years. She works primarily with exhibitions and loans and is also involved in research projects on materials and degradation problems in Edvard Munch’s art. In her early career, she worked as a painting conservator for private companies and at the Museum of Archaeology in Stavanger, largely working with historic church art assigned by the Directorate of Historical Antiquity.
She holds an MS in painting conservation from the University of Oslo and a BS (Hons) in painting conservation from the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki. She also studied art history at the University of Oslo.
