Dr. Robert K. Sutton, PhD, retired in 2016 as the National Park Service’s chief historian, culminating a 33-year career. Dr. Sutton, who earned his doctorate in history from Washington State University, has taught at several major universities and currently teaches courses for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He has also written and edited numerous books on American history.
