Alan Charlton
Alan Charlton serves as a Trustee and Deputy Chair of Canning House, a leading organization on UK/Latin American Relations, and volunteers with The Samaritans.
Prior to these roles, he enjoyed an illustrious 35-year career in diplomacy. His most notable roles included serving as Ambassador to Brazil, Deputy Ambassador to the US and Germany and First Secretary to Jordan. He witnessed the historic fall of the Berlin Wall and actively participated in the influential Bosnia Peace Talks in Dayton, Ohio, in 1995.
Alan is also an accomplished author of personal and family history books, including Shaking My Briefcase–Diplomatic Stories and Apollo Cokkinis, from Odessa to Dorking – An Extraordinary Life, along with other family history books.
He holds degrees from Cambridge, Manchester, and Leicester Universities. Additionally, Alan has received distinguished honors, including the CMG (Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George) presented by then-Prince Charles and the CVO (Companion of The Royal Victorian Order) presented by then-Queen Elizabeth II.
